چکیده

Objectives To test the usefulness of continuous assessment of arterial load based on a 3-element Windkessel model by a combined analysis of the esophageal Doppler derived-blood flow and arterial pressure waveform, against standard frequency-domain analysis of arterial impedance. Methods Time-domain variables of arterial impedance were obtained by the simultaneous analysis of the Doppler derived-blood flow and arterial pressure. A 3-element Windkessel model was used, consisting on arterial resistance (R = mean arterial pressure/cardiac output), arterial compliance [C = stroke volume (SV)/arterial pulse pressure), characteristic impedance [Zct = maximum derivative of pressure (dPmax/dt)/maximum derivative of aortic blood flow (dQmax/dt)] (Figure 1). Effective arterial elastance (Ea = 90% of systolic arterial pressure/SV) was used as a lumped parameter of the whole arterial load. Frequencydomain analysis of the pressure-blood flow waveforms was obtained to estimate the input impedance (Zin), characteristic impedance (Zc, average of the modulus of 4

A System for Continuous Estimating and Monitoring Cardiac Output via Arterial Waveform Analysis

Background: Cardiac output (CO) is the total volume of blood pumped by the heart per minute and is a function of heart rate and stroke volume. CO is one of the most important parameters for monitoring cardiac function, estimating global oxygen delivery and understanding the causes of high blood pressure. Hence, measuring CO has always been a matter of interest to researchers and clinicians. Sev...

Presentation of a Non-invasive Method of Estimating Arterial Stiffness by Modeling Blood Flow and Arterial Wall Based on the Determination of Elastic Module of Arterial Wall

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is an important predictor of cardiovascular risk. Several indices have been  introduced to estimate the arterial stiffness based on the changes in the brachial blood pressure. Since the  substitution  of  the  blood  pressure  changes  in  the  central  arteries  such  as  carotid  with  the  blood  pressure  changes in the brachial results in error in the blood...

Arterial waveform analysis.

The bedside measurement of continuous arterial pressure values from waveform analysis has been routinely available via indwelling arterial catheterization for >50 years. Invasive blood pressure monitoring has been utilized in critically ill patients, in both the operating room and critical care units, to facilitate rapid diagnoses of cardiovascular insufficiency and monitor response to treatmen...

Relationship of Oxygen Saturation Percentage (SaO2) and Arterial Oxygen Pressure (PaO2) with the Outcome of Covid-19 Patients Hospitalized in intensive care Units

Background and Objective: In order to determine the Hypoxemia and prognosis of patients with covid-19 hospitalized in the intensive care unit, reliable oxygen supply indicators are needed. In this situation, the examination of the percentage of arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) and arterial oxygen pressure (PaO2), as well as their relationship, may be helpful. Materials and Methods: This des...

تأثیر بازآموزی ساکشن لوله داخل تراشه برای پرستاران، بر تغییرات فشارخون بیماران بستری در بخش مراقبت ویژه

Background & Aim: Endotracheal suctioning (ETS) is a common invasive nursing procedure. Hemodynamic parameters changes during and after the procedure. If appropriate strategies do not be applied during the ETS, hemodynamic changes can be significant and life threatening in critically ill patients. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of education of endotracheal suctioning on pati...
